The Far-Western Nepalese Society of Maryland traces its roots to 2016, beginning as the FarWest Nepalese Welfare Trust in Baltimore. Today, we are a fully incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the Far-Western Nepali diaspora across Maryland.

Our Programs & Initiatives
Cultural Programs
We celebrate and preserve Far-Western Nepalese culture through festivals, arts, and cultural events — including Bishu Parva, Dashain, Tihar, and community gatherings that foster heritage and belonging.
Education & Youth
Educational workshops, scholarship support, and mentorship programs designed to enhance opportunities for both youth and adults in our community.
Health & Wellness
We organize health camps, wellness programs, and awareness campaigns focused on the physical and mental well-being of our community members.
Sports & Activities
FWNS-MD supports affiliated clubs in football, cricket, volleyball, and badminton — with up to $1,000 in financial support per activity for tournament fees and travel.
Community Support
Our support services assist members in need — providing financial aid during illness, death, or disaster — and maintaining a strong safety net for every member.
Civic Engagement
We foster relationships with local, state, and federal government, advocating for the rights and representation of Nepali Americans in Maryland.
New Executive Committee Elected
The FWNS-MD Election 2026 has been successfully completed. The new Executive Committee was elected on July 11, 2026 and the handover ceremony took place on July 18, 2026.
